Fireplaces & Stoves

Everything that makes a fire: wood burning stoves for UK homes, electric fireplaces for the US, and the flue components, glass and firebricks that keep them running.

If you are choosing a stove, output is the first decision. A room needs roughly 1kW for every 14m³, so a 4 x 5m living room with a standard ceiling wants about 5kW. Get that wrong in either direction and the stove will either never heat the room or spend its life running slow, which glazes the glass and tars the flue. Every stove here lists its nominal output, its efficiency and the room volume it suits.

What size stove do I need?

Measure the room and we will point you at the right output band. The rule of thumb is roughly 1kW for every 14m³ — a well-insulated room needs less, an old draughty one more.
