Most Whynter wine and beverage units are front-venting, so the same model works built into cabinetry or standing on its own. Pick by how many bottles you keep and how you serve them.

Why Whynter

Engineered for the collection, not the showroom

The details that separate a wine refrigerator from a cold cupboard — in Whynter’s own words and diagrams.

Two panes with a sealed air gap block ultraviolet light — the quiet destroyer of stored wine — while keeping condensation off the glass and the compressor running less. The same door construction runs across the entire built-in wine and beverage line.

Dual-zone models split the cabinet into an upper zone (40–55 °F) and a lower zone (50–65 °F), each with its own compressor-fed cooling and touch control. Serve a white at cellar temperature and keep the reds resting — no second appliance, no compromise.

Every Whynter wine cabinet is compressor-cooled — not thermoelectric — so it holds temperature in a warm kitchen or a garage, and an internal fan keeps the top shelf as cold as the bottom. Vibration-damped mounts keep sediment settled and the noise below a library.

The standard cabinet is 23.5″ wide and vents through the front kick plate, so it drops into a 24″ cabinet opening with zero side clearance — or stands on its own. Reversible doors on most models, a key lock on every one, and an open-door alarm so an evening with friends doesn’t become a warm morning.

Which Whynter do I need?

Seven questions that settle it. If yours isn’t here, ask us — we’ll answer with a model number, not a link.

Single zone or dual zone?

Single zone holds one temperature for the whole cabinet — ideal if you store wine long-term (55 °F) and pull bottles to serve. Dual zone gives you a serving zone for whites and sparkling (40–50 °F) above a cellar zone for reds (55–65 °F). If you open a bottle most evenings and drink both colours, dual zone earns its price. If you mostly collect, single zone with more bottles is the better spend.

Built-in or freestanding — what does front-venting mean?

Whynter’s 24″ and 15″ cabinets exhaust heat through the toe-kick grille at the front, so they can be enclosed in cabinetry on three sides with no gap. That is what “built-in” means. The same unit works freestanding; just leave the front clear. Fully freestanding models (the FWC series) vent at the back and need 2–4″ of clearance all round — don’t build those in.

Measure the opening height as well as width: undercounter models are 32–34″ tall to sit under a 36″ counter.

How many bottles do I really need?

Count what you have, then double it — collections grow. Capacities are rated on standard 750 ml Bordeaux bottles; Burgundy, Champagne and wider shoulders take more room, so plan on 15–20% fewer if that is what you drink. Under 20 bottles, a 12″ or 15″ unit fits beside a dishwasher; 40–54 bottles is the 24″ undercounter sweet spot; 100+ is a full-height column.

Compressor or thermoelectric?

Every Whynter built-in is compressor cooled. Compressor units hold their set temperature regardless of the room, cool larger cabinets and can go well below ambient. Thermoelectric coolers are quieter on paper but only cool 20–30 °F below room temperature and struggle in a warm kitchen or garage. For anything you intend to keep more than a few months, choose compressor.

Beverage center, wine fridge, or both?

Beverage centers run colder (34–54 °F) with flat wire shelves for cans and bottles; wine refrigerators run 40–65 °F on contoured wood shelves that cradle bottles on their side. The French-door BWB series does both in one cabinet — 20 bottles on the left, 76 cans on the right, each side on its own thermostat.

Sizing a portable air conditioner: BTU and hoses

Use the SACC rating (the DOE test), not the larger ASHRAE number, and plan on roughly 20 BTU per square foot — a 14,000 ASHRAE / 9,500 SACC unit like the ARC-14S covers about 500 sq ft. Choose dual hose: it draws condenser air from outside rather than pulling your cooled room air out of the window, which is where single-hose units lose a third of their capacity.

Delivery, installation and what arrives

Undercounter units and ice makers ship by parcel or freight to your curb, free across the 48 contiguous states and DC; full-height columns and merchandisers ship on a freight line with an appointment call before delivery. Installation is a plug-in job on a dedicated 115 V outlet — no plumbing except the built-in ice makers, which need a water line and a drain.

About the brand

Twenty years of quiet, well-made cold

Whynter was founded in 2006 in Brea, California, to make portable, efficient and space-saving appliances for indoor and outdoor living. Two hundred and fifty product launches later, the range is sold through a small network of authorized retailers — Maison Bruxelle among them — and its portable air conditioner has been Good Housekeeping’s pick six years running.

Ask us

Whynter at Maison Bruxelle — FAQ

Are you an authorized Whynter dealer?

Yes. Maison Bruxelle buys directly through Whynter’s US dealer program, ships from their warehouse, and every unit is covered by the manufacturer warranty.

Is the price the same as Whynter’s own?

We list at Whynter’s manufacturer price with delivery included. No countdown timers, no fake discounts — if a model is on a manufacturer promotion, the price on the page is the price.

How long does delivery take?

Parcel items typically arrive in 3–7 business days after dispatch. Freight items take longer and the carrier calls to arrange a delivery window. Tracking is emailed as soon as the unit leaves the warehouse.

Do the built-in units need any clearance?

Front-venting built-ins (BWR, BBR, BSR, BWB, BOR series) need none at the sides or back. Leave the front grille unobstructed. Freestanding FWC / WC / BR models need 2–4″ of air around them.

Do you ship this range outside the United States?

No. These units are stocked and shipped domestically in the US and are wired for US power. They are not offered on our UK or European storefronts.
