How AWEIS lights the bowl

  • Lights at the push of a button and senses the flame.
  • Built to resist wind and weather.
  • Shuts the gas off if the flame goes out.
  • Field-serviceable, so parts can be replaced on site.

The battery version runs on three AA batteries in a waterproof pack, with no wiring to the bowl.

Looking after it

Care

Let the bowl cool completely before cleaning. Brush out leaves and wipe the concrete with water, mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid acids and harsh cleaners.

Keep fire glass or lava rock level and clear of the burner ports, and have a licensed gas fitter check the connection each season.

Questions people ask before they buy

The questions we are asked most about concrete gas fire bowls.

Does it need a gas line?

Yes. Every bowl comes as a gas kit, for natural gas or propane. The two are built differently, so order the one that matches your supply.

Have a licensed gas fitter install the bowl and check the connection each season.

Which ignition should I choose?

Match lit uses a key valve and a long lighter. It needs no power.

Battery electronic ignition lights at the push of a button with no wiring to the bowl.

24V and 120V electronic ignition use Fire by Design's AWEIS all-weather system and need a power supply near the bowl.

30V DC electronic ignition is the low-voltage version for bowls near a pool or spa.

Is fire glass or lava rock included?

No. The kit includes the bowl, the stainless steel burner, the burner pan, a flex gas line and your ignition. Each size on this page lists roughly how much fire glass it holds, so you know how much to order.

What color will it be?

Pick your color in step 4. The range depends on the bowl, and some bowls come in a smooth or textured finish.

Colors on screen are a guide. Each bowl is hand-cast, so shade and texture vary a little from bowl to bowl. Concrete sample chips are available on request.

How is it delivered?

Each bowl is built to order. Depending on the model it ships in 4–8 weeks; the time for this bowl is shown above the Add to basket button. It travels packed and crated, by freight carrier rather than courier.

Can it stay outside?

Yes. GFRC (glass-fiber reinforced concrete) bowls are made for patios, courtyards and pool surrounds.

What does the warranty cover?

Fire by Design backs each part of the kit separately:

  • Bowl: 2 years from delivery against manufacturing defects or structural failure. Small stress cracks and surface crazing are natural in concrete and not covered.
  • Stainless steel burner ring: 3 years (304 stainless); 316 marine-grade rings for life.
  • Stainless steel burner pan: 5 years.
  • Electronic and battery ignition: 3 years in a home, 1 year in commercial use.

The warranty does not cover misuse, incorrect wiring or installation, or repairs by anyone other than Fire by Design.
