The band most UK living rooms land in: 5kW to 8kW, suiting rooms of roughly 70 to 110m³.

5kW is the single most common stove size sold in Britain, and for good reason — it covers a typical 4 x 5m room with a standard ceiling. Go above 6kW if the room is open to a hallway or stairs, if the ceilings are high, or if the house is older and draughty. Every stove in this range is DEFRA exempt, so it can be used legally in a smoke control area.

What size stove do I need?

Measure the room and we will point you at the right output band. The rule of thumb is roughly 1kW for every 14m³ — a well-insulated room needs less, an old draughty one more.
