Floor lamps for reading corners, beside sofas and in the dead corners of a room.

For reading, the bottom of the shade wants to be at about eye level when seated — roughly 150–160cm overall. Taller than that and the bulb glares; shorter and you light your knees. An arc or task lamp solves the corner a table lamp cannot reach.
