Genuine parts made for this model, supplied by the manufacturer. Added here, they travel on the same pallet as the stove — no second delivery charge, and nothing to order separately later. Sprayed and burnished finishes add five working days to dispatch.

Description
The Peanut 3 is a wood-burning stove rated at 4.7 kW, 82.7% efficient, DEFRA-exempt for smoke control areas. It ships direct from the manufacturer in Dorset — dispatched the same working day on orders placed before 11am, on a two-day pallet service to mainland England and Wales.
Available in standard and tall heights — choose above. The taller version raises the firebox to a more comfortable viewing height; the specification block gives both sets of figures.
What arrives, and how
- OrderPlaced before 11am on a working day, it leaves the same day. Your order goes straight to the manufacturer in Dorset; nothing sits in a warehouse.
- DeliveryThe pallet courier rings to agree a weekday. Two-day service, kerbside — the driver brings the pallet as close as level, solid ground allows. Mainland England and Wales as standard; for the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland and the islands, ask us for a quote before ordering.
- InstallYour HETAS installer fits the liner, hearth and stove, commissions it and issues the certificate. Typically a day.
- GuaranteeRegistered with the manufacturer on installation, per their terms.
Specifications published by the manufacturer at https://www.saltfire.co.uk/products/peanut-3, read 7 September 2026. Room sizing is the trade rule of thumb (room volume ÷ 14) and is a guide, not a calculation. Dispatch and delivery terms per Saltfire Stoves, 2 September 2026.
Will it heat my room?
- 4.7 kWNominal heat output
- 66 m³Suits roughly this room
- 82.7%Efficiency
- 100 mmFlue size
In plain terms: a 4.7 kW stove suits a room of about 26 m² with a normal 2.5 m ceiling — roughly 5.1 m × 5.1 m. The trade rule of thumb is room volume in cubic metres divided by 14. It is a guide, not a calculation: insulation, glazing and how open the room is all move it, and your installer will confirm. Oversizing is the common mistake — a stove run too low tars up the glass and the flue. Peanut publish an operating range of 1–5 kW for this model.
Rule of thumb: about 1 kW for every 14 m³. A well-insulated room needs less, an old draughty one more.

Can I install this where I live?
Three questions, answered before you buy
-
01
Do you live in a smoke control area?
Most UK cities are one. Burning wood there is legal only in a DEFRA-exempt appliance, and this stove is one. Check your postcode on your council's website.
-
02
Do you have a chimney, or room for a twin-wall flue?
An existing chimney usually needs a stainless liner. No chimney is not a blocker — a twin-wall system can be run through a wall or roof. Either way it is the installer's call.
-
03
Who signs it off?
A HETAS-registered installer self-certifies and issues the certificate. Any other route means notifying building control before work starts. You need that paperwork when you sell the house.
What a compliant install looks like
- Flue liner — a stainless liner up the chimney, sized to the 100 mm outlet. Without a chimney, a twin-wall system runs up a wall or through the roof.
- Register plate — closes off the old chimney opening around the liner, so heat and debris stay where they should.
- Hearth — non-combustible, sized to Building Regulations Document J and extending in front of the door.
- Carbon monoxide alarm — required in the same room. Your installer fits and tests it.
- Clearance to combustibles — 550mm to side walls / 150mm (or 75mm if twinwall) to rear wall for this model.
Illustrative only — your installer works to the manufacturer instructions and Building Regulations Document J.

Questions people ask before they buy
Wood burning stoves need a flue, a hearth and an installer. These are the questions people actually ask before ordering one — answered straight, including the ones that might stop the sale.
I live in a city — can I legally burn wood?
Yes, if the stove is a DEFRA-exempt appliance — the certification block on this page says whether this model is. Most UK cities are smoke control areas, where burning wood in a non-exempt stove is an offence. Check your postcode with your council.
Do I need a chimney?
No. An existing chimney is usually lined with a stainless flexible liner. Without one, a twin-wall insulated flue can be run up an outside wall or through the roof. Your installer will advise which suits the property.
Can I fit it myself?
Legally you may, but the installation must then be notified to building control and inspected. Using a HETAS-registered installer avoids that — they self-certify and issue the certificate you'll need when selling the house. It also protects the guarantee.
What does delivery actually involve?
The stove ships on a pallet on a two-day service to mainland England and Wales. The courier calls to agree a weekday, so someone needs to be in. It is a kerbside delivery and stoves are heavy, so arrange help to move it. For the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland and the islands, contact us for a quote before ordering.
Wood only or multi-fuel — which should I choose?
Wood only if you'll burn logs, which is what most people do and what suits these stoves best. Multi-fuel adds a grate and ashpan for smokeless fuel. In a smoke control area, only approved smokeless fuels — or wood in an exempt appliance — are permitted.
How long before it’s fitted?
The stove leaves the manufacturer the same working day if you order before 11am, and delivers on a two-day service. Installer lead times are the longer part — book that first, especially between September and December.
